ORIGINAL CHARLES OPPENHEIMER ‘THE GALLOWAY DEE’ DONATED TO THE STEWARTRY MUSEUM



In 2014 the Railway Heritage Designation Advisory Board offered the Stewartry Museum in Kirkcudbright the original Charles Oppenheimer painting "The Galloway Dee", a Scottish landscape used in an iconic British Railways poster in the 1950s.

On 31st July 2015, Lord Faulkner of Worcester, representing the Railway Heritage Designation Advisory Board, officially presented the work to Councillor Tom McAughtrie, Chair of Dumfries and Galloway Council’s Community and Customer Services Committee at Kirkcudbright Town Hall.
