27 February 2012: On my way back from a visit to Australia, I was privileged to spend time with Aung San Suu Kyi in Rangoon.
We talked about her current election campaign and possible plans to visit the UK this summer.
The portrait is of Daw Suu’s father Aung San, the father of modern Burma, who was assassinated in 1947.
I first met Daw Suu when we were both reading PPE at Oxford in the 1960s.
